Matthew Beach

Matthew Beach is the founding Managing Director of GAAM.

Before becoming Managing Director of GAAM, Matthew held a senior management position with the LJCB Investment Group. Prior to joining the LJCB Investment Group, he was the Chief Financial Officer of Issues & Images, a company associated with the LJCB Investment Group. Matthew started his career at KPMG in Sydney in the audit and advisory division.

Matthew holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with majors in Accounting and Finance from the University of New South Wales. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.

Will Gramolt

Will Gramolt is the Chief Financial Officer of GAAM. Will commenced employment with GAAM in 2007, having joined from global aircraft leasing company AWAS, where he managed the treasury and financial analysis functions.

During his time at AWAS, Will was responsible for management of debt financings, budgeting activities, development and implementation of hedging strategies and forging of relationships with other aircraft financiers and corporate banks. Will was also heavily involved in the due diligence process surrounding the sale of the company to Terra Firma in February 2006.

Prior to joining AWAS, Will was an accounting manager in Macquarie Bank’s infrastructure division and worked for six years at accounting firm BDO, first in audit and then in corporate finance, where he was involved in listing companies on the London markets.

Will has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Modern History, Economic History and Politics from the University of London and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Russ Hubbard

Russ Hubbard has a background of over 20 years in commercial aviation. Before joining GAAM in 2005, Russ worked for technical aviation consultancy IBA in the UK since 1997, and held a number of senior client management and project roles.

Prior to joining IBA, Russ worked at Euro Direct Airlines as Commercial Accounts Manager, responsible for the accounting function and all insurance and fuel purchasing, and Dan-Air London, where he had responsibility for financial reporting within the scheduled services division.

Among the many assignments undertaken for blue-chip clients, Russ has conducted business reviews of aviation support companies, numerous airline due diligence assignments, transaction assessments for major aircraft lessors and participation in asset sale and leaseback transactions. Russ has also acted as an expert witness on a number of high profile aviation transactions.

Russ holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Liverpool, UK.

Richard Woods
Head of Legal

Richard Woods has more than 14 years’ experience in the aviation leasing industry. Before joining GAAM in 2007, Richard had worked for AWAS in Sydney, Australia since 1993 and held various positions including, most recently, Vice President Business and Legal Services.

During his time at AWAS, Richard gained extensive experience in managing and executing a variety of aircraft leasing, wet leasing, trading and financing transactions and had responsibility for managing AWAS’s exposure to a number of airline bankruptcies, aircraft repossessions and lease restructurings.

Prior to joining AWAS, Richard spent two years with Clayton Utz solicitors in Brisbane, where he practised law in the areas of banking and finance, and building and construction.

Richard holds a Bachelor of Law degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Political Science from the University of Queensland and a Master of Business Administration (Executive) degree from the Australian Graduate School of Management and is admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland.

Brian Robins
Head of Technical

Brian Robins has more than 38 years’ aircraft technical and management experience, with approvals on Boeing and Airbus equipment in addition to GE, Rolls Royce and IAE engines.

Brian began his career with British Airways (BA) where he worked as an engineer on B747 aircraft. He joined British Caledonian as a maintenance supervisor managing a team of technicians on all types in the fleet including a three-year posting to Toulouse as the launch customer of the A320.

Following the purchase of British Caledonian by BA, Brian led the specification management, delivery and entry into service of the first A320s into BA’s fleet, working in both Toulouse and Hamburg. Brian continued his career at BA in a number of roles, including Customer Support Engineer, various Account Manager positions, Programme Manager for all BA Airbus aircraft and finally Fleet Technical Team Manager.

After leaving British Airways in 2001, Brian spent four years as Head of Technical Services with IBA Group, responsible for all technical activity, including inspections, negotiation of lease documentation, aircraft deliveries, returns and repossessions.

More recently Brian set up a private technical consultancy firm, advising clients on technical aspects of lease documentation and on-site technical representation for aircraft financiers and owners.

In addition to CAA A&C licences, Brian holds a Diploma of Management Studies from Brighton University, UK.

Russell Christopher
Vice President Marketing

Russell has 15 years’ experience in the aviation industry with a focus on aircraft acquisition, sales and leasing. Prior to joining GAAM, he worked at First Greenwich Kahala, Ltd, where he was responsible for the marketing and placement of all aircraft coming off lease or early return, deal origination and general fleet management. Before working at First Greenwich he performed the role of Director of Origination for Republic Financial Corporation, where he covered deal origination, finance sourcing, and the development of new airline customers throughout Europe, and prior to that as Aircraft Sales Manager for the Americas at Focus Aviation. Russell has studied for an MBA from the Open University, England.

Brad Crump
Senior Analyst

Brad Crump joined GAAM from Deloitte’s corporate finance advisory group. During this time, he worked on numerous public and private company acquisitions. Brad has also had previous roles at STW Communications Group and Issues & Images, where he assisted on a number of acquisitions as well as managing the group financial and management reporting function.

Prior to this, Brad spent two and a half years working at PricewaterhouseCoopers in audit and advisory services, focusing on clients in the technology, media and entertainment sector. Brad has an MBA (Executive) with the Australian Graduate School of Management and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia.

Dr Derek Wong
Market Analyst

Derek has eight years’ experience in the aviation sector. His latest role was as an Aviation Analyst in the Valuation and Consultancy team at Ascend, where he was responsible for conducting aircraft valuations, market analysis and undertaking consultancy projects for airlines, aircraft lessors and manufacturers. He worked in the Ascend head office in London, as well as its Asian office in Hong Kong.

Prior to this, Derek carried out extensive research on aviation safety and risk assessment at Loughborough University, for which he was awarded a PhD. He has also worked for Airports Council International in Washington DC. Derek has a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Transport Management & Planning from Loughborough University and is an ISTAT certified appraiser.
